Introducing Moby S. Loop, our
Recycling Robot!
Moby S. Loop is part of RRFB Nova Scotia’s education and awareness
team. Moby travels to schools, festivals and other events all over Nova
Scotia to support local efforts to promote waste reduction, reuse, recycling
and composting. He is a remote-controlled robot who can speak, shake hands,
sing songs, and even do a “recycling dance.” He is blue in
colour and approximately 4 feet tall. Moby loves to interact with
kids and adults alike, and he is sure to bring a smile to your face!
The Mobius Loop
Moby is named after the Mobius Loop, which is the
international symbol for recycling. Discovered in 1858 by German
mathematician and astronomer August Ferdinand Mobius, this fascinating
shape is meant to symbolize transformation. In the world of recycling,
it represents the process of transforming waste materials into useful
resources.
The Blue Planet
Moby has traveled a long distance to join the team here at RRFB Nova
Scotia. Moby is from the Blue Planet, located in a faraway
solar system. Many years ago, all of the robots on the Blue Planet realized
that there was too much garbage on their planet and decided
to do something about it. They worked together to reduce,
reuse, recycle, and compost and their planet blossomed into a clean and beautiful place
to live!
Today, the robots of the Blue Planet have become experts on the three
R’s and composting and they travel all over the universe teaching
how to make the world a cleaner place. This is why Moby is here in Nova
Scotia—to tell kids and adults why it is so important to reduce,
reuse, recycle, and compost.
Moby‘s Adventures
Moby has been very busy! Last year, he delivered 310 presentations at
172 different community events and schools across Nova Scotia. He
had the pleasure of talking to over 1000 adults and almost 15,000 students
about the three R’s and composting!
