2009 Annual Report

The thirteenth Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Resource Recovery Fund Board, Inc. (RRFB Nova Scotia), was held on June 25, 2009 at the Radisson Suite Hotel in Halifax. During the meeting, RRFB Nova Scotia’s board of directors confirmed that Nova Scotia’s municipalities will receive a total of $6.96 million towards the funding of waste diversion initiatives across the province.

Congratulations Mobius Winners

2009 Mobius Awards Keynote Speaker Jay Ingram

The 11th Annual Mobius Awards gala luncheon was held on May 27th at Pier 21 in Halifax. The Awards were presented to twelve innovative organizations and individuals who have made Nova Scotia a leader in waste reduction. Honourable mentions were awarded to two other organizations.

This year's keynote speaker at the awards luncheon was Jay Ingram, co-host and producer of the Discovery Channel's Daily Planet, and one of Canada's most respected science journalists. Mr. Ingram shared his observations on environmental sustainability and highlighted different ways people are tackling environmental issues.

2008 Nova Scotia Recycles Contest - The results are in!

Many thanks to all the teachers and students who submitted entries for the 9th annual Nova Scotia Recycles Contest. Thanks to your efforts, our judging committee reviewed a record-breaking 11,650 entries - almost 3,000 more than last year! For the names of the winning students, please follow the link below.

Winners were honoured at awards banquets held throughout the province in March and April, receiving more than $55,000 in cash and prizes, including:

  • $20,000 in scholarships for grade 12 students.
  • Schools of winning students in grades P-11 win $500.
  • Schools of runner-up students in grades P-11 win $250.

Request for Proposals - Processing Scrap Tires for Tire Derived Aggregate (TDA) - CLOSED

RRFB Nova Scotia’s request for proposal (RFP) period for a The Tire Derives Aggregate (TDA) solution is now closed. The evaluation committee is now in the process of reviewing proposals. We expect to have this stage completed in early June.
